Watch: Ubaid Shah, the 17-year-old brother of Pakistan quick Naseem, gave UAE captain Aayan Afzal Khan a big send-off in the U19 Asia Cup semi-final, and got a thumbs-up in response.
UAE delivered an almighty shock, beating Pakistan to qualify for the final, but Ubaid had put his team in a strong position, taking four wickets to keep the chase below 200.
All his wickets were bowled, including both openers and the last two wickets to fall. The last of those was Khan’s who had resisted Pakistan to make 55. Ubaid let loose any frustration upon nipping the top of the bails, yelling and celebrating in the batter’s direction. Khan had the perfect reply, giving a thumbs-up.
He had reason to be confident. While Pakistan built to 105-2 in reply, a dramatic collapse, including three run outs, saw them fall short by 11 runs.
